Genesis 1:1-2:4: God's Creation

In Genesis chapter 1 it tells us the story of God's creation. God's creation. Think about this for a minute. What are you picturing? Is it the mountains, the water (ocean, sea, rivers etc.), the land, sky.
God created everything in 6 days. 6 DAYS!!!! You know how long it takes to build an average house? 9-12 months. God created the whole universe in 6 days. General Contractor builds house in 9-12 months.

Lets look into Genesis chapter 1.

In Day 1, God created the heavens and the earth. Then God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. Then God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light "day" and the darkness "night." Day 2, God said, "Let there be space between the waters, to separate water from water." God made this space to separate the waters above and waters below. And God called the space "sky." In Day 3, God made dry ground and called it "land" and the waters "seas." Then God made the land bear every kind of grass, tree, plants, and fruits. In Day 4, God said, "Let bright lights appear in the sky to separate the day and night. They will be signs to mark off the seasons, the days, and the years. God made to great lights, the sun during the day, and the moon during the night. He also made the stars. God set these lights in the heavens to light the earth, to govern the day and the night, and to separate the light from the darkness. In Day 5, God made the waters swarm with fish and other life. The skies filled with birds of every kind. He told the fish and the birds to multiply and fill the earth. Then in Day 6, God created the livestock, small animals, and wildlife to multiply and fill the earth. God said, "Let us make people in our own image, to be like ourselves. They will be masters over all life-the fish in the sea, the birds of the sky, and all the livestock, wild animals, and small animals." He created people, male and female, and told them to multiply and fill the earth and subdue it.

What amazes me is that God created everything to be good. Not bad, GOOD!!!
Now here's an interesting thought. Since God created everything in 6 days, then why do we have 7 days a week? Well thats simple, because God rested on the seventh day finishing all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from his work of creation. The seventh day is called "The Sabbath Day."

Tomorrow I will be talking about the story of Adam and Eve.
