Romans 12:2 Mind Renewal

Do not conform to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Romans 12:2

Paul warned Christians: "Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world" that are usually selfish and often corrupting. Wise Christians decide that much worldly behavior is off limits for them. Our refusal to conform to this world's values, however, must go even deeper than just behavior and customs; it must be firmly planted in our mind: "Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way we think." It is possible to avoid most worldly customs and still be proud, covetous, selfish, stubborn, and arrogant. Only when the Holy Spirit renews, reeducates, and redirects our mind are we truly transformed.

First Post/What I Plan on Doing

This is my first post and I want to say: How cool this is to jot down my thoughts and ideas on a webpage. I want everyone to know what I plan on doing with my new blog site. What I am going to do is my New Year Resolution. My New Year Resolution is to read the whole Holy Bible from Genesis to Revelation in one year. Here's the catch, I'm going to summarize each book on what I read. I'll do the best that I can to explain it simply as possible. I'm no Theologian or Scholar. I'm just a simple 22 year old young man who loves his Lord and Savior. There are 66 books in the Holy Bible. 365 days a year in a 12 month period. This is going to be a challenge, but I'm willing to keep myself motivated and focused. Let the countdown begin. I will start this challenge on New Year's Day.

Genesis 11:1-9 The Tower of Babel

The first half of chapter 11 talks about the tower of Babel. At one time the whole world spoke a single language and used the same words. As the people migrated eastward, they found a plain in the land of Babylonia and settled there. They began to talk about the construction projects. They built a great city with this tower that reached the skies with great piles of burnt bricks and collected natural asphalt to use as mortar. It was a monument to their greatness. The tower would bring them together and keep them from scattering all over the world. The brick used to build this tower was man made and not as hard as stone. Just to give you an idea what the brick was made out of. The Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. "Look!" he said.
